Karangahake gorge

A biking adventure! We met Gran and Grandad and biked the Karangahake gorge which is between Paeroa and Waihi. It is an old railway line that has been turned into a walking and biking track. It runs along a beautiful river inside a deep gorge. The whole track is 7km long and includes a couple of bridges across the river and a 1km tunnel! We started at Karangahake with a very good coffee and muffins at the little cafe. A place I would highly recommend! The biking was pretty easy, a flat wide path that only gradually went uphill - maybe next time we would do the trip in the reverse. We had lots of stops for food and lollies as Bell was running low on energy having just started morning kindy and off the back of a nasty bug. Camryn also didn't quite make the end of the trail falling asleep in her bike seat. It was a lovely day and we finished it off with a picnic at Waikino.
