Christmas Letter 2011 - Part two
Family holiday – Pukerua Bay and then Turangi
A holiday at Pukerua Bay – which is the place of my family’s vacations for generations. This was very special to me & to Dad (Hamish) who came down to join us. We walked out to Wairaka with the kids – Alexa exclaiming as we arrived that it was “great to be alive”. Lots of exploring rock pools, an extended family BBQ, as well as a 2 hour run for David and I that took us over the hill to Plimmerton and then around the coastal path and rocks back to Pukerua Bay. I think upon reflection this would be a nicer day trip!
We then had a week in Turangi. This is a place that is fast becoming a family favourite and we cemented this early in the year by buying a section. We hope in years to come this will turn into a bach for family retreats with fishing, swimming, biking, trail walking, hot pools & of course skiing among the many activities.

I couldn’t resist this memory – the Rugby World Cup. Visiting Eden Park for the opening ceremony was fabulous, watching the final was hideous but will always be memorable.
