Trip to Sydney

Anzac weekend we took our family to Sydney to visit Stanko and Debs. They have two kids similar ages to ours and have recently located so we were keen to visit and see there set up.
Alexa spent the first 3 days in overdrive absolutely loving having Lucca as a permanent play mate. The two of them wound each other up screaming, running around the house and getting up to mischief. They didn't do too badly though and were able to be put to bed in the same room with Lucca in his bunk bed, and Alexa with the top mattress on the floor.
Bathtime shows Alexa pre toncilitis (I reckon she lost a few kilos) with a healthy tummy.

New beds, birthdays and toncilitis

Apologies to those who expect regular updates to this blog. I have been snowed of late with sick kids, trips to Sydney and also some casual work, which means NO TIME!!! However at the moment both girls are tucked up in bed and the floors are still wet from being mopped so I have an excuse to sit down to the computer.

There have been a few milestones since Easter - Alexa is now in a big bed and seemed to cope with this just fine. David only found her on the floor once and she didn't wake up so no problems there. It does mean however that she is no longer captured behind bars and therefore we get little footsteps making there way to our bed at various times of the night and early early morning. 6am seems to be a fairly common waking time!! When is it the right time to teach them how to read the time??
I had a birthday in April and was treated by David to a glorious chocolate cake. I believe it is one of his first endeavours and he was very very proud of the result - but, as those of you who know him, he decided it was a little dry (ie not perfect!). Of course I am more than willing to be guinea pig to his trials should he decide to perfect the choc cake attempt, as is Alexa!!
Isobel is now just one week away from being 6 months old! She is an incredibly good little girl who fusses rarely and just loves watching her crazy big sister. She is now sitting up comfortably and enjoying being able to reach for toys. This photo of her is a classic as if you look closely you will see a droplet of drool descending slowly down from her mouth. Evidence that yes she is a terrific dribbler with the odd unsettled moment due to (I guess) teeth moving, but no show so far. This weekend coming we will try her on some solids so am spending this week boiling up veges, putting them thru mouli and freezing them in ice cube trays. Oh what fun!!

Alexa as had a rough month ending up with Toncilitis after a trip on the plane to Sydney. Unfortunately I had not yet read Lucy Burney's Boost Your Childs Immune System and at the Doctors with Alexa screaming blue murder while the Dr talked me thru antibiotics vs a swab to determine if viral or bacteria I caved and we ended up taking a course of antibiotics. The book mentioned above talks about how antibiotics should only be used if necessary as they wipe out bad and good bacteria in your body and therefore leave you susceptible to other infections. However, moving on I now am treating Alexa to some immune boosting soups to try and build her system up before the winter sets in with the flurry of colds and flus that are prevalent. She seems to be on the mend which is a relief as it was most unpleasant to see her so wan and miserable.
