Feijoas, Tamarillos and Kiwifruit
These are three things I like about this time of year in NZ. Feijoas and tamarillos are ripe and yummy, with the kiwifruit not too far behind. We are lucky enough with Mum and Dad in Pukehina who have not only a kiwifruit orchard, but two large feijoa trees that mum describes as organic cos she hasn't done anything to them for years!! So last weekend we loaded up with 2 large grocery bags full of large feijoas. With these I was able to trade some for Rochelle's tamarillos (also known as Tree tomatoes). YUMMMM!!
Alexa has been tried on both fruit and is very keen on feijoas, but yet to acquire a taste for tamarillos. Perhaps they are a bit tart for her.
The family is all well, Alexa is walking now making it harder to keep track of where she is and what she is up to. She entertains us with a lovely babble of her language and sometimes with the odd song. I caught her rocking and singing along at a coffee shop the other day, entertaining her Granny Annie. It's hard to determine real words but her comprehension is pretty good and she will nod and shake her head when asked closed questions. Are you hungry? Would you like a drink? Do you want to get down?
David is enjoying work, and getting back into running. I am still job hunting, the job market is pretty tight for part time roles at my level, but I have a few good prospects on the horizon.
